Navina joined ISKCON in Pretoria in 2003 and was initiated by His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami in June 2011. After serving as part of the Sunday Love Feast cooking team as a teenager for nearly a decade, she attained a BCom (Marketing) degree from Wits University where she also served as Events Co-ordinator, Treasurer and Chairperson of the Bhakti Yoga Society in various years. Shortly after leaving university she joined the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, becoming the marketing ambassador when BBT Africa was established.

In 2014 she relocated to Cape Town, and is currently the Head of Marketing and Communications for the Recreation and Parks Department in local government at the City of Cape Town. Professionally, she’s spent 10 years working in Public Relations, Media and Communications, as well as in Corporate Social Investment, working with previously disadvantaged communities. Her expertise is primarily as a writer and strategist, working to develop credible and positive reputations of organisations with projects resulting from Public-Private Partnerships.


 

Navina enjoys traveling to experience different cultures and tries to remain active as a global citizen through participation in various leadership programmes around the world including the Global Young Leaders Summit in Washington DC and Environmental Education Summits in Germany.More recently as from January 2021, Navina has also joined Food for Life South Africa as a Non-Executive Director.
