Rukmini Devi Dasi was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in 1968 in Montreal, after coming to Krsna Consciousness in San Francisco. She has served in Boston, New York and Los Angeles as pujari. In 1972, she was sent by Srila Prabhupada, along with a group of other

artists to Mayapur to learn the art of "putul", clay doll-making for the purpose of creating Theistic Exhibitions. Two of these exhibitions were completed in the Los Angeles and Detroit ISKCON temples.

 

For twenty-five years she owned a business in Washington, DC called As Kindred Spirits, which donated to ISKCON Communications, Children of Krsna, ISKCON Child Protection, as well as other outreach projects.

She is a board member of Bhakti Center in New York City, and the Bhaktivedanta College at Radhadesh in Belgium. She is currently teaching, and leading workshops and retreats in New York and the Washington, DC area. She is the wife of Anuttama Das, ISKCON's Global Minister of Communications, and the mother of Gaura Vani, the kirtaneer. She lives with her family in the Washington DC area.
