Sumithra Krishna Dasa

His Grace Sumithra Krishna das is the President of the ISKCON Chennai Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple. A student of mathematics, he joined ISKCON Chennai at the age of 21 in 1985.  He got initiated after six months by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami.  Sumithra Krishna served nine years as a brahmachari.

He travelled all over South India leading the Traveling Sankirtana Party. He was also in the first ISKCON Padayatra in the advance party during which time he got to serve in the association of His Holiness Lokanath Swami and His Holiness Jayadvaita Swami.

In 1992, he was given administrative services in ISKCON Chennai as General Manager and got married in 1994. He was appointed as the ISKCON Chennai Vice-President in 1997 and Temple President in 2004 by His Holiness Bhanu Swami, the Zonal Secretary. Under his active leadership the gorgeous Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple was built and opened on April 26, 2012. As President, he is also supervising eight Extension/Preaching/Outpost centers in Tamil Nadu - Perumbur, Kumbhakonam, Vellore, Trichy, Srirangam, Thuraiyur, Pondicherry, Hosur and Perambalur under the parent temple of ISKCON Chennai.

Sumithra Krishna has successfully completed the Zonal Supervisor Course conducted by the GBC college in 2018. He is presently holding the following posts: Vice Chairman - South Indian Divisional Council (SIDC), Vice Chairman - Indian Continental Committee (ICC), Member - ISKCON, India Advisory Committee (IIAC), Member - Several sub-committees constituted by the three bodies above, Member - Sabha 2020

He has attended several seminars and workshops conducted in ISKCON as well as all the ILS programs at Mayapur right from its inception. He strongly believes in team work and delegation. He manages the ISKCON Chennai temple by a temple management team comprising of temple departmental heads and important congregation leaders.
